Disneyland Character Workers at California Park Vote to Unionize

A majority of Disneyland cast members who perform as characters and dance in parades at the amusement park in California have voted to unionize with the Actors’ Equity Association. The union announced that it had successfully surpassed the required threshold in a vote supervised by the National Labor Relations Board. The workers are seeking improvements in safety, scheduling, and better workplace benefits, including a living wage. A Disneyland spokesperson said it is premature to comment on the results, while the union leaders consider the workers’ unity a symbolic victory.
