Ticket prices are soaring for the summer boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. The bout, scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is already generating strong interest from bettors. The event will be globally streamed on Netflix and is expected to be one of the most heavily bet on boxing matches this year. Fans are eagerly lining up to see the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion take on the 27-year-old social media influencer turned boxer. The fight will consist of 8 rounds, with each round lasting two minutes. Tyson’s last professional fight was in 2005, but he participated in an exhibition match in 2020.
The event will also feature a match between lightweight world champion Katie Taylor and unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano. Previously, Taylor and Serrano achieved the first-ever sold out women’s headline boxing event at Madison Square Garden.
The company promoting the event, which is co-owned by Paul, has reported over 121,000 fans signing up for presale access. Tickets will officially go on sale next week. In addition, there is a unique $2 million VIP package available, which includes ringside seats, floor seats, and various perks.
Ticket prices for the event are being listed on secondary market sites. Currently, the lowest-cost tickets are available for $357, while ringside seats are selling for $8,067.
BetMGM has already started accepting bets on the fight. Jake Paul is the current favorite according to odds, although 70% of the money bet has been placed on Tyson. The boxing match is expected to draw a diverse range of viewers, including Tyson supporters, Jake Paul critics, and casual sports fans. Netflix will stream the event to all its subscribers for free, as part of its efforts to expand into sports.
The exact financial terms of the fight and Netflix’s involvement have not been disclosed. However, it is reported that Tyson and Paul are expected to earn eight-figure sums from the bout.
