Diamond Sports, Comcast reach a deal to return Bally regional sports to cable customers
Bally Sports regional channels will soon be available to Comcast cable TV customers again. Diamond Sports, the owner of Bally Sports-branded regional sports networks, has reached a deal with Comcast to reinstate the networks on August 1. These networks broadcast regular season local games for MLB, NBA, and NHL teams in various markets. The blackout had affected Comcast customers since May 1 when MLB’s regular season started. The agreement is vital for Diamond Sports’ survival as it continues to secure contracts with pay TV providers. Diamond Sports has also reached deals with Charter Communications, DirecTV, and Fubo. The negotiations with Comcast resumed after breaking down in May due to a dispute over terms surrounding the tiered model.
