Delta Air Lines announced plans to introduce premium economy service on transcontinental flights starting in September. The move aligns with the airline’s strategy to increase sales of higher-priced tickets and cater to passengers seeking more space and perks. Premium economy is positioned between first or business class and regular economy, and typically carries a higher ticket price. Delta’s rivals, such as United, are also investing in premium seating and other enhancements to attract high-spending travelers. Revenue from Delta’s premium products rose by 10% in the first quarter compared to the previous year.
