China will implement export controls on certain aviation and space components starting on July 1. The move aims to protect the country’s national security and interests. Exporters wishing to export items such as aerospace structural components, engine manufacturing equipment and software, gas turbine engines, spacesuit parts, and advanced polymers used in bulletproof clothing will need to apply for an export license. The Ministry of Commerce will determine if the items have “dual-use” military application. China’s Export Control Law, introduced in late 2020, consolidates various legislation into one law. The policy does not target any specific country or region.
