Meta Employee Sues Company Over Rehiring of Alleged Stalker #

A Meta employee has filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging retaliation and negligence after the tech giant rehired a former staffer who had been accused of stalking and harassment.

The lawsuit comes in the wake of Meta’s restructuring efforts, which included significant cuts to its talent and recruitment department. The plaintiff, a marketing leader based in New York City, claims that the company’s hiring practices have become “chaotic, reckless, and ineffectual” due to these changes.

According to the lawsuit, a former Meta employee who had been placed on a “Do Not Hire” list for stalking and harassing the plaintiff was rehired as a contractor. The plaintiff alleges that he had previously reported the stalking incidents to the company and was assured that the individual would not be rehired or allowed to enter company premises.

The lawsuit details a series of disturbing events, including frequent messaging, contacting family members, and even appearing at the plaintiff’s residence. These incidents reportedly forced the plaintiff and his partner to relocate.

Upon learning of the alleged stalker’s rehiring, the plaintiff immediately reported it to HR. The company subsequently terminated the individual’s employment for a second time. However, the plaintiff claims that the stalking and harassment intensified after this second termination.

The lawsuit also accuses Meta of retaliation, stating that the plaintiff was sidelined and removed from significant projects after raising concerns about the rehiring decision.

The plaintiff is seeking damages and court judgments to prevent the alleged stalker from being rehired and to prohibit further discriminatory or retaliatory acts against him. He emphasizes his desire to continue his work without fear and hopes that by coming forward, he can prompt Meta to implement reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This case highlights potential issues with workplace safety and hiring practices in the tech industry, particularly in the context of major corporate restructuring efforts.
