Medical Group Backs Youth Gender Treatments, but Calls for Research Review
The American Academy of Pediatrics has renewed its support of gender care for minors and is commissioning a fresh look at the evidence.

The American Academy of Pediatrics supported gender-related treatment for children on Friday, reaffirming a position it took in 2018 regarding a medical approach which has been banned since then in 19 states.
The influential group of physicians also went the extra mile by commissioning a review of the medical research done on these treatments. This was in response to similar efforts made in Europe, which found that there were mixed results regarding their effectiveness for adolescents.
