Elon Musk announced on his Twitter account that the Twitter logo would change to an "X" and that the birds on the platform will disappear.

Musk tweeted: "And soon, we will bid farewell to the Twitter brand, and, slowly, all of the birds."

Musk also tweeted 'Paint It Black', before launching a poll asking users to 'Change the default platform color to Black'.

He continued, 'If a quality X logo can be posted tonight, then we will make it go live globally tomorrow.

"Like this, but X," he said above an illustration showing the iconic silhouette of a bird but on a black backdrop.

Musk is one of the richest men in the world. He was once known for the innovative work he did through SpaceX and Tesla, which launched rockets and built electric cars. Now, he makes headlines with his eccentric remarks and antics on his Twitter account. Musk shares conspiracy theories, and often engages in public spats.

Musk redesigned the site in October after purchasing it for $44 Billion. He cut staff, implemented controversial policies and caused frequent service interruptions. His reputation was also ruined.

He has repeatedly warned Twitter that it could face bankruptcy. He revealed this month that Twitter still has a negative net cash flow because of a 50% decline in advertising revenues and heavy debt load.
