Since Richard Nixon, every president has released his or her tax returns. The only exception is the former President Donald Trump who fought for years to hide his taxes.
The House Ways and Means Committee (which at the time was controlled largely by Democrats) obtained six years' worth of Trump's business and personal returns at the end last year.
